The Sorry Loss Of A Binatog Vendor

I don’t know how will you react to what I am about to tell you. I am saddened by the disappearance of a certain vendor in town. Yes, I am serious. This vendor, I call him “Manong” (which is what we Filipinos often use to refer to an older man we don’t know, or “Sir”, if in a suit), sells the best binatog in town the whole world. I found out just now that his full name is Joel Angibat (from commenter Jimili here). For those who do not know what binatog is, it is a  warm concoction of boiled corn, coconut, sugar and milk. I don’t have a picture of it, unfortunately, so if you’re curious enough you can Google it for an image of how it looks like.

So as I was saying, I haven’t seen Manong Joel in his binatog stand in the last two trips I made to town, which was a week apart, so it must be a while since he last sold his delicious binatog. Sure, there are other binatog vendors in Baguio (in fact, immediately beside his old stand is another seller of binatog), but nothing compares to Manong Joel’s concoction. For a mere ten pesos a cup, you get a warm snack to comfort you on a typical cold day here in Baguio. Come to think of it, corn is my comfort food, so that must be the reason why I love binatog so much.

Now that he’s gone, I don’t know if I’ll ever look forward to going to town anymore. See, it’s been a habit to drop by his stand whenever I need to be in town for anything, so now that I don’t know where he is anymore, I don’t think I’ll enjoy eating binatog anymore. I’ve tasted almost all other binatog but nothing comes close to Manong Joel’s. I guess this post is kind of a silent (okay, not so) cry to anyone who happens to know where Manong Joel is now selling his binatog, because I sure as hell would go there to buy one if only I knew where.

Demonoid Invitation Codes. Again.

Hah. What do you know. Three new ones again. But I want to make it harder for those who just grab my invitation codes and go without so much of a thank you. From now on, I’m not gonna make these Demonoid invitation codes public. I will send it only to the emails of those who ask (politely, if I may add). For now, Isidro, djgl857 and jon (those who requested for it) will be the ones receiving this batch’s codes. I mean can you blame me? For chrissakes, how hard it is to leave a simple thank you in the comment section?

On the last post about these invitation codes, I gave out four. But only ONE was gracious enough to leave something. I seriously don’t think you deserve being given Demonoid codes if you can’t even say thank you. Come on, people. Common courtesy here. By being Demonoid members you will be gaining so much. Does it hurt to say thanks? If it does, well, sorry. This is not the place for you. Ungrateful people are not welcome here.

New Demonoid Invitation Codes

Okay. I checked just now and I was able to generate five Demonoid invitation codes again. I’m only giving away four right now. The remaining one I’m going to keep for myself just in case somebody I refer screws up his or her account and gets banned and I get banned too. Insurance, you know. So I can keep giving away free Demonoid codes as long as I am blogging.

As I promised in my other blog, I will give them away the instant I am able to generate new invitation codes. So bookmark or subscribe, or whatever. Anyways,  enough yakety-yak. Here they are.

You can register here. Hey, don’t just grab and go. Leave me a comment here. That’s the only thing I’m expecting. And spread the love, too. Don’t just leech. Seed. So you can generate Demonoid invitation codes to give away every now and then. Aight? Gotta work now.

When Windows Movie Maker Hangs

After changing to Vista a week ago (remember I was on XP a while back?), I did not anticipate the effect that it will have on my Windows Movie Maker (WMM). I use the program for doing videos for my job, and depend heavily on it, so I was quite :wow: when I tried opening it the first time with Vista and get this:

“Windows Movie Maker cannot start because your video card does not support the required level of hardware acceleration or hardware acceleration is not available.”

I was like, :omg: I almost hyperventilated. I thought my video card needs replacement already. But of course, being the researcher that I am was, I searched for a solution to my problem. And I landed here in this nifty Microsoft page which solved my problem right away. Am I a genius or what? No, I just have a knack for typing in the right keywords.

As I was in the middle of making the video, I encountered another problem. :grrr: It’s always hanging on me. :poo: Shit :poo: . So I turned to Googling (not Yahoo,it produces irrelevant results for me) for answers again and read someone somewhere say that maybe it’s a codec pack messing with my WMM. And I thought, yeah. I installed a K-Lite yesterday, because the damn Windows Media Player won’t play .flv files (Do you want me to discuss my .flv problems too? No? Yeah, maybe  another time.) So I uninstalled K-Lite, and voila. Problems solved.

I wish life was more like that. You just have to uninstall in your life something in order to make everything aw-right. But, unfortunately that’s not the case.

Damn. I just remembered I have yet to fix my blockquote codes. It looks eww now. But I have to sleep. I haven’t slept in eighteen hours. Ack.

EDIT:

Of course, I now have the problem of my .flv files not playing because the K-Lite Codec Pack was uninstalled. Thankfully, I found a better codec pack that works well with Vista. It’s called the Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP). Frankly, this is the first time I heard of it. But it works fucking great with Vista because it allows me to play all my media files in WMP while at the same time allowing me to use WMM. You can download it here
