New Demonoid Invitation Codes

As promised in my other blog, I will give them away the instant I am able to generate new invitation codes. So bookmark or subscribe, or whatever. I was only able to generate two codes this time, as my ratio is quite low due to RAM problems (see previous post for details). Any volunteers? No? Thought so. Tee hee. Anyways, enough yakety-yak. This batch’s recipient are:

Carlos Flores and Cobblestone

Again, I only give away Demonoid invitation codes to those who leave a comment in my posts asking for one. So if you want to have the chance to get one, you need to do just that. I work my way up the list of commenters and give the invitation codes to the oldest commenters, so the earlier you comment, the sooner you’ll receive your code. I email the codes to the luck recipients, not post them publicly, so check your emails once in a while for an email from me. You can register with the invitation code you got from me by clicking this link.

To you guys on my waiting list, please be patient, okay? Once you are in the list you are already guaranteed of a code. It’s just a matter of when you will get it. And please, I noticed people who posts twice, please don’t do that. I know your IP addresses so double posting will be futile. Only one code per person. Also, I am a scatterbrain some most of the times, so if you feel like I have skipped your name on the list of commenters and haven’t given you your code by now, please DO tell me about it. Till next time!

Hell On A 512

Two sticks of memory, one gave out (the old one that came with this unit when I purchased it, on installment), and guess what. I’m running on 512mb right now :cry2: . On a Vista  . With Photoshop, Gimp and Illustrator installed :dazed: . Shit. To run on half the speed with all those memory-hungry software, and a memory-hungry OS, you don’t wanna know how that is like. I’m just gonna tell you.

IT’S HELL.

You should’ve taken the clue from this post’s title. Now I can’t finish Pehpot’s blog design, I can’t start on the other blog design that I’m working on (which hubby drew the header for, I’m gonna show you when I’m ready to show you. Tee hee.), I can’t view the vectors I’m supposed to be choosing the design for a future blog, heck, I can’t even run Yahoo Messenger and Chrome and Firefox all at the same time. Yes, THAT bad. If I want to use FF, I should close Chrome, or all the world will crash down on me. Read more…

Paul’s Sketch Blog Is Live!

Ack. Finally finished hubby’s template for his site which he has been bugging me to do for like a week now. He has some sketches out already and wanted the site to look presentable, so. Anyways, after hours of frustration, here it is, finally. Click on the screenshot to be taken to the site:

As you may have noticed from all the templates I have done so far, I’m a stickler for details (that’s why it takes me so damn long to finish a single template). I want everything to look right, from the hover effect of the main navigation down to the smallest icons, so I was flabbergasted when I tested the site in Internet Explorer and found that the footer was out of place! I’m still a code-moron so I have no clue right now as to how to fix that. So please, please, DO NOT view this on IE if you like everything to be perfect. At least, until I find out how to fix that irregularity. Any help from anyone? IE has always been the bane of my existence, seriously. Oh well, everything can be learned, right?

I should go take a quick nap. I was exhausted after this, and I really need to start on another project as I have been postponing doing that for quite some time now. Please drop by Paulie’s site if you have extra time. It’ll be much appreciated!

LBC ATM Bilis Padala

Today I thought I’d share my experiences with this method of sending money from US to the Philippines. I work for mTurk  and have to channel my earnings to a U.S. bank account so I can get it in cash (as against converting it to Amazon gift certificate balance :nono: ). I do it through my mom’s friend who lives in California and until yesterday, he sends me the money through Western Union online. We didn’t have problems with WU’s services. Money gets sent in minutes and only one valid ID is need to claim the money. Plus we can withdraw it in any one of the tons of WU branches here in Baguio. On Session Road alone, I think I saw two or three agent locations. :cute:

The other day, my mom’s friend’s wife suggested to use the LBC ATM Bilis Padala service, which she uses herself to send money to relatives who live here in the Philippines. What they did was they went to the LBC branch nearest them and applied for an LBC ATM card which will be sent to me through mail in 3 days (I hope). I can then use that card to withdraw the money they sent to me in any ATM littering the streets of Baguio City. According to one of the feedbacks I’ve read, the recipient got the card two days after the application abroad, which is what I am holding to right now, for the sake of my sanity.

It is a cheaper way to send money, compared to Western Union (you can see their rates here), and after the initial wait of 3 days (hopefully :huhu: ) to receive my money, 15 seconds is all it takes for my money to be credited to the LBC card account for the the succeeding transactions (again, I hope :sheepish: ). It requires no maintaining balance, which is  because you avoid the fees resulting from low average monthly balance that is characteristic of most other cards. You can also use it to pay for purchases at retail outlets like Makro (which I don’t think Baguio has) and SM, for a minimal fee of P2.50 per transaction.

Please NOTE that I am in no way affiliated with LBC. What I say here is based on what I saw on the site. In fact, please expect me to bitch about their poor services when after three days I have not received the card. But to be fair, if I DO receive the card in time (or earlier (I can only hope :blank: ), I will be writing about that, too. So check back in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, lemme hear your own experiences about it. Good or bad, I can take it. I’m a big girl now. :cute: What matters is everyone gets to know what quality of services to expect from this LBC ATM Bilis Padala. I’m looking forward to your opinions

UPDATE:

It is a couple of days later, and what do you know. I received the card on time.  So I can safely say that LBC lives up to their promise of sending it in three days. Now, withdrawing is another matter. I heard some people had difficulty in withdrawing in bank ATMs other than BPI, but those comments were made a couple of years ago, so we’ll see. Tomorrow we will try to withdraw the money from an ATM. Will let you know how it goes.

ANOTHER UPDATE:

We went to withdraw it today at a BPI ATM because it was the first machine we saw. There was no service charge, which is great. But the max amount per withdrawal is P4,000 so I had to withdraw several times, and you can only withdraw a total of P50,000 a day. Other than that, it went smoothly (thank God  ). You can also max out your card’s balance, since there is no minimum maintaining balance. So there. I hope to receive another remittance through it on Monday (note the word I HOPE), so I will let you know if it arrived as soon as it was remitted, and if it can be used at another ATM other than BPI
