Two sticks of memory, one gave out (the old one that came with this unit when I purchased it, on installment), and guess what. I’m running on 512mb right now :cry2: . On a Vista . With Photoshop, Gimp and Illustrator installed :dazed: . Shit. To run on half the speed with all those memory-hungry software, and a memory-hungry OS, you don’t wanna know how that is like. I’m just gonna tell you.

IT’S HELL.

You should’ve taken the clue from this post’s title. Now I can’t finish Pehpot’s blog design, I can’t start on the other blog design that I’m working on (which hubby drew the header for, I’m gonna show you when I’m ready to show you. Tee hee.), I can’t view the vectors I’m supposed to be choosing the design for a future blog, heck, I can’t even run Yahoo Messenger and Chrome and Firefox all at the same time. Yes, THAT bad. If I want to use FF, I should close Chrome, or all the world will crash down on me.

So here I am, 3:55 in the morning, scouring the Internet for 2 pieces of 1GB PC2100 266MHZ DDR1 184-pin memory (I’ve memorized the specs by heart. I didn’t have a clue what to get for my desktop earlier in the day so I thought it’s best to learn while I’m at it). I already found a likely candidate, something on eBay. $27 a piece, free shipping, the best deal I’ve spotted so far, but the cheapskate in me refuses to buy it yet, hoping something cheaper will turn up.

So here I am. Still on a 512, cursing at every sudden lag, wanting to just crawl beside hubby’s warm spot on the bed but my mind refusing to end the search for that elusive RAM. I know I should head to the S.O.S (Save On Surplus) shop in town tomorrow, but I doubt if I can, with all the housework that needs to be done (the weekends are mostly reserved for cleaning the house). So I’m pretty much stuck with this one 512 until A: I find a better deal compared to the one I already found on eBay, B: I give up searching and grab that eBay offer, or C: somebody gives me 2 pieces of 1GB sticks. Which is as likely as the heavens dropping 2 pieces of the same in my outstretched hands, so I’m not counting on the last one.

Anybody know of a better deal? Or a better brick and mortar store to go to? Please don’t tell me about Gilmore. I know the prices there are dirt cheap and used to be one of my heavens on earth, but we live in Baguio now for chrissakes. mg:  It’s 4:20 in the morning already. I should be getting some sleep. Oh well, tomorrow is another day. I wish something fruitful comes out of all this searching soon. :nailbite:
