A Quick Update on Demonoid

As you may have noticed I haven’t been giving away new Demonoid invitation codes for some time now, but it’s not that I don’t want to anymore. I mean I’ve been giving them away since I became a member of the site and I have no plans of stopping soon. However, some of you (okay, most of you anxious Demonoid members and those who want to get invites) may have noticed that the Demonoid site has been having problems for I think the last couple of months (but to my mind it seems like decades. OMG, I miss going there!). First, we can’t even access the site (at least, some countries like mine. Earlier, rumor has it that they’ve banned certain countries), so there’s been a lot of speculations (pretty nasty, some of them) going around about what happened to Demonoid. Now there’s an official announcement from the administrators which you can see when you try to go there, and I quote,

The site will return as soon as possible, but there was a problem that caused data loss and the person who can help us get the data back is not able to help at this moment. The site will return when we can get his help. A loss of a some months worth of activity including registered users and torrent submissions is to be expected because the backup we are hoping to get back is not up to date, so please be prepared for it.

Bad news, eh? So let’s all just cross our fingers and hope for the best. Demonoid has been there for a while now and nothing beats the torrents in its database for variety and effectiveness. Plus, the community is quite good (it should be, otherwise one will get booted out for bad behavior). Anyways, there. Just to let you know how the site’s been doing
