A True Blue Filipina

Naturally, I am drawn to Pinay bloggers because I am one. The first time I stumbled upon Jade, I read her name in one of Peh’s posts, and the link that led me to the girl is on Pinay Jade, one of Jade’s personal blogs. I dunno what happened in between then and now, why we never brushed virtual elbows in the blogosphere. I guess it’s because she strikes me as very intelligent and very sophisticated, like woman-of-the-world sophisticated. I tend to get shy around people like that, ya know. But still, when I blog hop, I visit her personal blog from time to time and read (not comment. I rarely leave comments. I’m weird like that) the latest goings-on in her life. Part of me is curious how a Pinay like her deals with the life outside her native country, and I  guess another part knows that in one way or the other, we’re bound to cross paths because we have several friends in common.

And I was right (it’s one of the few times that I am right, so indulge me). One day, out of the blue, me, Peh and Fedhz were having a conference, and Jade happened to be online so she was invited and we got to talk a bit and I was surprised at how nice she is. So there. I admit it hit my mind I need to have a crash course on Jade if I were not to appear completely stupid about her life (I still am, but, well, I’m naturally stupid, so), and what better way to start than to read her personal blog. I know now that she is fond of her little brother, and she loves her life as an expatriate, and that she is someone I can actually relate to (time management issues, what do you know), contrary to initial impression that someone as classy as her would have anything in common with such a major klutz like yours truly.

Even though she’s been to so many places, her being a Filipina still shines through her posts. I wouldn’t be able to relate so much, if that wasn’t the case. I’m looking forward to know her better (more late night/early morning chats, perhaps? ) in the coming days, and that’s just not lip service girl. I really do. So maybe when me and the blogger gang visit Palawan you’ll let us stay in your hacienda for free? :haha: Kidding. But, yeah, that’d be nice :biggrin:
