The Smartest Mom In Town

This is how Margot describes her PinayMom.org site. Wife to Eric of BlogDeManila.com, she blogs about resources and tips for Filipina mothers. From shopping, to home budgeting, to personal development, she has tackled the most important issues concerning moms, and women, in general. Children (her own or otherwise), health, marriage, you name it, she’s blogged about it. Like her husband, she also blogs about events, workshops and seminars that quite a lot of people will find value in attending. I have visited the site a few times in the past and every visit, there is certainly a new piece of information to be learned. Being a Pinay mom myself, I can relate to her entries because she localizes most of her discussions to everything Filipino. The site per se, is always a delight to come to, with its simple yet functional design. It gives emphasis to the posts while allowing for the blog owner to post advertisements and useful inks on the site. It is easy to navigate, as well, and because there are a lot of places to go to on the site, this is a great feature. If you haven’t done so, please feel free to drop by PinayMom’s little space on the web. I’m sure you will find it a great experience.

Blog With An Attitude

A “you can do it!” attitude, that is. KayaMoPinoy.com is a rich resource of practical and easy to follow tips for Pinoys (online business owners and offline workers, as well) regarding self-improvement and business start-up and management. The site also points you to valuable seminars and events which helps Pinoys on job-hunting, managing their personal finance, and everything else that the owner Eric (also of BlogDeManila.com) deems to be helpful for his fellow countrymen. There is even a small section on health and sports events that you can join in if you’re interested, and a growing section on current news and Bayaning Pinoy worthy of noting and making us proud of our heritage. On the design side, the clean Flexibility Theme allowed for a wide content space, thus focusing the reader’s attention on the entries. The sidebar is good for navigation purposes, and the several advertisement boxes on the side, the header and the footer are placed so that it doesn’t distract the reader much from the valuable content. So if you’re Filipino, I strongly suggest you head on to Eric’s site and learn a lot from there. If you’re not Pinoy, you may also find something you could learn about our people, and pick up a few tips here and there, so a visit to the site is also recommended.

A Health Buff In The Making

The sexy mom wannabe is also a beauty and health buff! This side of Jade she shows through her blog, HealthAndBeautyDiva.com. She started the site almost a year ago, but for some reason, she only started blogging in it last March. Let’s not snoop around for the reason why, shall we, and focus on the contents and the design. It uses the Vigilance Theme, one of the cleanest themes (resembling the Thesis theme which Fedhz is crazy about) I’ve seen from WordPress. As usual, Jade’s preference in her design is minimalistic, as is evident in all her other blogs. There’s not much clutter on the sidebars, and the content takes up the most space, shining the spotlight on the entries. The topics, as the domain suggests, range from body health to maintaining one’s outside beauty (and inside glow, as well). The author believes that beauty is linked with our health, so combining the two issues in one blog is a natural choice. There aren’t a lot of entries here yet, but what is there you will surely find value in reading. Tips which are really easy to follow can be picked up in one of the several items in the archives of Jade’s blog.

Singapore Snapshots

At first glance, you’d think this was a recipe blog, judging by the number of saliva-summoning food pictures posted on the site. But Makoy’s Snapshots is more than just that. It’s pieces of his daily life in Singapore, framed in digital form. A visit in his blog will let you experience the beauty of the place in the comfort of your own home, Singapore’s delicious dishes that Makoy loves, occasional pictures of him and his friends, and just everyday things that he sees while living and working there. It’s an interesting and educational photoblog, especially if you are planning to go the place to work or even just to take a vacation. I’m no professional photographer but I like his angles when taking his shots. Ordinary objects seem more interesting. Somehow, they’re not just pictures but life captured in a moment. For a photoblog, it loads quite fast, even with the graphics on the sidebar, and that’s a great thing. Spend even a few minutes in his blog and I’m sure you will feel like you’ve just been to Singapore yourself. And without even the hassle of paying for the air fare and struggling your way through the airport. :wink2:
