Creative Writing At Its Best

Blog-aholic, blogging about bloggers Add comments

The last few weeks I’ve been discovering more and more bloggers that I somehow magically never pass through during my blog hopping hours. Maybe it’s because those hours are very few and far in between? My latest discovery is Jena Isle of Gewgaw Writings. The first few pages in her blog and I was hurled back in college, back when my creative writing was at it’s peak (now it’s just plain writing, no more creativity. :haha: ). I didn’t realize how abruptly I’ve given up that avenue after I graduated until I read Jena’s pieces.

And who wouldn’t be inspired by her writings? Her short story about Pepe made me teary-eyed. It touched a chord in my heart that has been dormant for so long. I was amazed at how a simple story like that could awaken so many old feelings inside me. And so I read, dug into her archives deeper, more and more impressed as I go along. And even more was I awed by the fact that Jena’s blog is an assemblage of great creative writers (both local and foreign) that I’ve never heard of until now.

Stop me (or not) because I am slowly getting addicted. I am shamefaced at my own rusty self, so it is with a new resolve that I will try (for starters) to write poems again. Was a great emotional outlet, and I think it will still be. Like what Jena quoted from Einstein:

One of the strongest motives that lead men to art and science is escape from everyday life with its painful crudity and hopeless dreariness, from the fetters of one’s own ever-shifting desires.
