Growing Up Too Fast

My daughter Svetlana is one year and nine months old now but it feels like it was just yesterday when I gave birth to her. I worry that she will grow up so fast she won’t need me anymore to take care of her. Just take yesterday, after she finished taking a bath. She doesn’t want to wear the t-shirt and leggings I prepared for her and insisted on wearing her favorite dress (which she just wore a couple of days ago). Frustrating. But of course I gave in to her. I wonder how other moms cope with with their little girls’ fashion choice. I mean look at children’s clothes nowadays. What is considered fashionable today are clothes that make young ones look older than they really are.

I have nothing against said trend. In fact, I like to dress up Svet smartly for special occasions, and like seeing other little girls dresses which make them look like young ladies. When Svet gets a little older, I know I will permit her to go with her fashion sense, minus the make-up of course. That’s where I draw the line. Children with mature-looking clothes are okay, but kids with make-up are just absurd. It’s good that girls learn early how to dress themselves up properly, and by proper I mean whatever they think looks best on them. It would be equally frustrating to have a kid who doesn’t have her own take on things, even with little things such as clothes decisions, don’t you think?

i mix and match my daughters’ outfit para hindi xa mukang dalaga na. usually, dress paired with maong pants then rubber shoes. I don’t buy shoes na may heels for Pia, it makes her look so dalaginding. She is 3 years old na btw. :)
