On Writing

I am often asked: “Don’t you get tired of writing?” And I always answer: Of course not. Writing is my first love, something I believe I’m good at. This has always been my main source of income, and I don’t know if I will ever find anything more fulfilling than getting to write everyday, whether paid or not.

Granted, writing is not as lucrative a career as others and not a lot of writers get rich doing what they love, but I’ve always believed that enjoyment matters more than the money I get from a job. Idealistic and foolish, I know, especially with today’s economy, but I’d stand by my belief that no matter how relatively small I get paid for my writing, I’d still prefer doing it than any other job in the world.

Just the same, no amount of monetary gain can make me do what I loathe doing. When I enjoy what I do, it reflects how I treat others around me, and my relationship with others is something that I value much more than a stressful/boring job that will bring me nothing but a sour feeling at the end of the day. But hey, to each his own.
