Why We Don’t Have A Credit Card

I don’t know if it’s common for people to not have a credit card. Obviously, I don’t ask other people. But we don’t have them. Not a single one. My mom doesn’t have them too, so I guess that’s why I don’t apply for any in the first place. I have received several credit card offers from different companies when I was working full-time in an office environment, each and everyone promising to make my life easier, and even offering fast applications and instant approval so I can use them ASAP. I mean, a new line of credit without the usual two to six week waiting period? Who wouldn’t be enticed?

I thought the temptations will stop when I work at home. I was wrong. It came everyday now, the delicious offers, even those credit cards for people with bad credit. And because I work through the Internet, it was even easier to apply for a credit card online. I just have to fill up an application form, sit back to wait on the result of my application (which I no doubt would be approved. I have a clear record, stemming from the fact that I haven’t owned a card before) and get ready to maximize my spending power. Or not.

So why don’t we have a credit card up to now? I don’t want to risk it. When it comes to buying stuff for my family, I have no discipline. LOL. Imagine how easy it is to just whip out my card and buy tons of things without immediate worries, then be assaulted by a humongous amount of bill to be paid after some time. No, thank you. But for people who have discipline when it comes to spending unlike me, then credit cards, especially credit cards for bad credit, would be music to the ears.
