Home-aholic Thoughts. Roof Restoration? Not.

Some of you might have noticed that I have been out of touch for a couple of days now, due to my internet connection being in the process of transfer to our new home. As I believe I have mentioned in another post, we are moving to somewhere near here, a lot smaller than where we live now, but it will be just Paulie and Svet and I so space will not be an issue (besides we don’t have a lot of stuff, so). The house will not be available for residency until the first week of August, so in the meantime we will be at our mom’s house so I can work from there. Why the wait? No, there’s no one there that we have to wait to move out before we can move in. Tee hee. The house is actually new, just constructed, and when Paulie and I last went there, there was still no paint on the walls and the floor is still not waxed. But it looks pretty sturdy, judging from what I saw during the construction phase (I visit every week to see how they are going). I don’t think roof restoration or any kind of restoration, for that matter, will be needed in a while, seeing how everything is brand new. And no, as much as I want for the house to be our own, it isn’t. We are just renting it, and since we will be the first ones to rent it, we will get first taste of how it feels like to live there. Wish us good luck. Moving to another house is an exciting adventure for me, one that I hope to enjoy to the fullest.

Adding Bathroom Accessories Can Improve Your Home’s Value

Most home remodeling projects don’t provide the owners with a significant return on their investments. That’s often because the projects take a long time to complete, which means the price tag gets larger every day. Add in the amount of money required to purchase flooring, wood, paint, and other items, and it quickly becomes obvious that your small home remodeling project can carry a large price tag. There is, however, a notable exception to this rule. Remodeling your bathroom can improve your home’s resale value and entice more potential buyers to make offers on the property.

Bathroom projects don’t have to cost a lot of money. Simply adding new bathroom accessories can make your home much more appealing. Potential buyers often focus on small details in the bathroom, such as shower heads and faucets. Installing well designed bathroom accessories in your home, therefore, can make the property really stand out.

Of course, you don’t have to stop there. You can choose to redecorate the bathroom with a fresh coat of paint, or you can decide to remodel the room completely by adding a new bath tub, shower stall, or sink. These elements will show potential buyers how much they could enjoy living in the house. Realistically, though, you get the most for your money with small changes that make the bathroom seem luxurious.

Small projects also cost less money because you probably have the skills needed to complete many of them. Replacing a shower head, for instance, is very easy. You can easily do it in an afternoon. Since you don’t have to hire professionals to install most bathroom accessories, you get instant savings on the DIY project. That means you will make a larger profit when you sell the property.

Up And Down

That’s how Svet likes to play. Whenever we go to the playground, she would always choose the seesaw or the swing, and scream with glee as she goes down, and giggle like there’s no tomorrow as she goes up a playground installation. Someday, when we finally get to have a house to call our own, I would like to have a spacious front or back yard, for Svet to have her own seesaw or swing, right in the comfort of our home. I know those outdoor installations can be quite pricey, but for Svet, I know I will have to save. The Outdoor Toy Company offers such installations, and I have scanned some of their products for probable purchase and I loved several at first sight.

The TP toys Forest Single Swing 2 would be great for her. Aside from it being relatively cheaper, it looks as if it won’t need as much space as the other outdoor toys, as I would need to be realistic about the space requirements. Plus the swing is adjustable, a plus for Svet as she grows older (and for me, too, as I wouldn’t need to buy a new swing immediately when she gets a bit bigger). I’m a klutz when it comes to installation, so it also helps that it is easy to install. The only thing now left for us aside from buying the swing is to find a house with big enough space to accommodate it.

How Obsessed Are You?

I didn’t understand all the fuss about the Twilight series a while back, when I haven’t read the entire saga myself. I thought I wouldn’t like a love story involving vampires, but boy I was wrong. So now I am a huge fan, and although far from being obsessed, I look forward to watching Eclipse (haven’t seen it yet) and Breaking Dawn with Paulie. We saw Twilight and New Moon the movie together, so I thought it’d only be fair to watch the other two movies with him as well.

Personalized t-shirts with the Twilight theme are all the rage right now, as well as all sorts of the saga’s memorabilia. I think someone’s fanaticism over the Twilight series is also measured by the number of collectible items that he or she owns, but if that was the case, I have a lot to catch up on. If I have some extra cash to spare in my hand right now, I wouldn’t think twice to buy New Moon apparel, or maybe a coffee cup with the faces of the cast in it.

I know wanting one or two Twilight items cannot be called an obsession yet, and I sure hope that my desire to own those stops at just that. I’d rather see other people stocking up on the series’ items than be in that position myself. I can be quite engrossed about something and lose discipline, and this is not an obsession I think I can handle well.
