I discovered this e-commerce plugin while I was searching for a good one to integrate with an e-commerce site I’m designing. It came out just days ago, so I cannot find any comprehensive feedback on it yet. I will be trying it out myself, though, so I’ll keep you posted on how it goes. If you want to try this plugin for yourself, you can go here (their official site). It looks promising, plus IT’S TOTALLY FREE. It even comes with themes that you can download FOR FREE to further speed up the rolling out of your e-store.

Paulie wanted a bit more of himself in his header, and since he is a smoker (which I ABSOLUTELY hate), we decided to add a couple of elements in his header. It even made us think of a cute tag line for his site. But we are still debating over whether to buy him a domain already or not. He is still in the process of drawing stuff to put up in his site (and I haven’t scanned most of them yet, sheesh) so we are not in any hurry. Anyways, here’s the revised header. We hope you like it!

The title was set on the lower left corner because the upper left will be occupied by the tagline, which btw is “Lead. Caffeine. Nicotine. Art.“ Cute? You decide.

Aside from my hush-hush project, I have also been tinkering with hubby’s site design. He said he wants to publish his drawings for all the world to see, so I got him a free domain name and hosting somewhere for starters. We plan to move it to a .com domain when he’s 100% decided (right now he’s still not sure if he can keep up with it), but as of now we are still waiting for the site to go live some time tomorrow.  read about a couple of great modules available in Drupal for portfolio sites, so I decided to make the design for Drupal. Here’s a sneak peek of how it’ll look like:

I don’t know if he likes me saying to the word beforehand about his site. But I’m so pleased with the result of the design that I wasn’t able to help myself, thus this post. I hope he fills it up with his drawings soon, he hasn’t drawn much the past months, so he’s still slow in finishing his works, but he’ll get his rhythm back up in no time. I hope you will come and visit his site some time! That is, when it goes live. Hehehe.

Now, before you all come up with the idea that I am an expert in Gimp, let me just state this clearly: I AM NOT. I came up with this workaround because I did a button with GIMP sometime ago and no matter how closely I look on Gimp’s toolbar, I can’t find said feature of bolding a text. So I Googled for an answer after having found out that Gimp doesn’t allow for making a font bold (unless the font naturally has a bold type, i.e., Arial Black for Arial), and came up with the

Layer => Text to selection => Text to selection => Select => Grow then Fill

solution. The font I was using (Shoebop) didn’t look nice with that workaround, and since I really needed to make the font more readable (because it is just a 125×125 button), I thought of duplicating the layer that contains the text I wanted to make bold. Now I am not very good with instructions, but I’ll try my best. So here’s what you do:

• On Gimp, click on the “A” symbol on the toolbox window to choose the text tool.
• Type in the text that you need to see in your GIMP document and adjust the font type, size and style.
• Hit CTRL + Shift + D to duplicate the layer.
• Move the new layer a bit to the right or to the left, for the text to have a bold appearance.

So there. You have now made your font “bold”. I know. It’s the lazy-ass way out. But it works for my needs. So I hope this little tutorial helps. If you know of a better easier (read: one-click) workaround, I’ll be more than glad to update this post.

A couple of days back, I decided to look for angel graphics for a 125 x 125 button requested a week ago by Polly for her blog, Angels in my Garden, so I can start doing it on the weekend. For those of you who haven’t been able to follow my other blog, :wth: I made some sort of a promise to learn to make website buttons through giving out a few pro bono ones as a sort of practice. I already did several (thank you to all who agreed to become guinea pigs :blush: ), but I’ll be showing it here on another post because I am planning to update a couple of them.

So as I was saying, I was looking for elements to incorporate in Polly’s button, and as soon as I saw the lovely Promise Kit at Shabby Princess and the cute as a button :cute: elements at Gran Gran’s graphics, I knew I had to see the outcome of the button as soon as possible. So I worked on it on every chance that I got, and finally, I was able to finish the button and the header last night . Wait, a button and a header :question: :exclaim:

Well, I was quite with the end result of the button that I decided to make a matching header out of it. I went to look at Polly’s current header size and made one that’s the same size and that exactly the same as the button I just made. I just hope Polly will like it :hearteyes: . I had fun doing this set, because of two things. The elements I used were gorgeous, and the person I’m doing it for is a real sweet lady :angel: . Trust me, you should head out to Polly’s page and try to read a couple of her posts. See if you don’t get hooked.

Anyway, here they are, so you can all tell me what you think about it :nailbite: .

I am still in a limbo about whether or not I am good enough for making buttons for a small fee. Oh, well. I can only get better in time, right? :tongue: Have a good weekend everyone :hug: Although it’s been :rain: here since last night. A little sunshine would be swell. :heart:

I have been searching high and low for a WordPress Plugin that would easily generate a 404 page for :me: since I am stupid and don’t know how to make one from scratch (yet. I gotta be optimistic here). Sure, I would love a creative and funny 404 page like this one but I know that’ll have to wait. I have tried and tested several plugins on my site already, but either they were too hard to configure for a moron like I am or they look like :poo:

After much :nailbite: and reading, I landed on Andrew Ferguson‘s page and boy was I awfully that I found him. He made an :thumbsup: 404 design especially for dummies like me, which you can download here. He calls it a Dunstan-style Error Page, since the design was adapted from Dunstan Orchard’s own error page. You can see my own 404 page here that I made from Ferguson’s excellent tutorial.

Hey, if I can do it, so can you, right? I mean I’m ignoramus extraordinaire when it comes to these things, so worry not. Whatever I can do, you can do better/easier. If you don’t have a 404 page yet and don’t have a clue where to start, head on to Ferguson’s page and you’ll have your very own 404 in no time. I’ve read in dozens of sites that a well-designed and informative 404 page is important in retaining your site readers, so it’s wise to make one now than run the risk of losing readership on your website.

Seriously. You’d think with the frequency that I am changing my layout, it has been easy for me. Jeez. It hasn’t been, trust me. For a code-moron like I am, this whole WordPress thing is driving me nuts. :dazed: Good thing the Internet has the answer to every stupid noob question that I have. Otherwise, I will be :write: this very post from inside a mental institution :dazed2: . Mommy Fedz asked if this theme was bought. No, it is a free template, and you can download it here, if you are digging the uber bright colors of this site. What I did was add some minor changes to suit my taste/needs, the icon and the title in the in the header and the very :rainbow: post footer image, among other things.

Unfortunately, I still haven’t figured out how I can make time to do my own template, so instead of this site looking blah, I used this theme in the meantime. I will be making more changes as opportunities to do so crops up. Any questions on the artsy fancy stuff and how to do it, just drop me a line and I’ll honest-to-goodness try to remember where I got the tricks/tutorials/hacks/plugins from. You know how I am. I have selective amnesia. :blush:

So until I actually come up with my own template, I think I’ll be sticking with this design. Purty eh? I am loving the pastels, and I just hope that it isn’t overly bright for your taste. Made a header tonight and I think it looks good on my site :blush: . Lately, I’ve been liking the brown and pink combination, only God knows why. Now all I have to do is create a webset which matches the colors and I am :thumbsup: to go. Although right now is not the best time to do it since a serious backlog of work has descended upon me and I am up to my nose in it. :whew: Haven’t started on anything else for WAHMaholic. Augh. :huhu: Poor baby. Mommy’s not doing her duties well. But, at least here’s a progress. I hope to improve in the days to come. And DO tell me what you think of my header
